How Does Dubai Work Permit Application Process Works?

Foreign nationals who are travelling to Dubai to work need to have a National Long-Stay Visa, or D Visa.

The D visa allows foreign nationals to stay in Dubai for more than three months. This is the visa foreign employees will need to live and work in Dubai for an extended period of time.

In addition to a long-stay visa, foreign employees will need a work permit. In Dubai, this permit is known as an employment license. The employment license is usually issued for 1 year.

What Documents Are Required To Acquire Dubai Work Employment License/Work Permit?

  • A valid passport

  • An employment contract with a Dubai-based company.

  • Proof of Employment in Dubai: Letter from the Employer indicating, the position of the applicant, his tenure duration, salary, and place of residence in Dubai.
  • Employment confirmation issued by the Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs Department in Dubai.
  • Work Permit Letter issued by the Maltese Authorities and should not be more than 60 days from the date of issue. If the letter is more than 60 days they cannot apply and the employer should request another letter from the Maltese Authorities.
